COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Location: Dubai

We're looking for a skilled and experienced Commercial Manager to join a leading international and multidisciplinary design consultancy based in Dubai. This role will be key in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple high-profile projects across the region.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consultancy environments, with solid experience in contract administration, risk management, and cost control. You'll be working closely with internal teams, clients, and contractors to ensure commercial success and smooth project delivery.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Commercial Manager will lead and manage the commercial, resource allocation, and bidding functions of a dynamic architecture and design practice based in Dubai. This pivotal role ensures the efficient use of resources, supports the preparation and submission of high-quality bids, and oversees all commercial aspects related to project delivery. Expertise in Deltek Vantagepoint is key, enabling optimized business operations, project tracking, and resource management.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

• Monitor project budgets and costs, ensuring financial targets are achieved and aligned with strategic goals.
• Negotiate and review client contracts to ensure terms are commercially sound.
• Oversee forecasting, budget tracking, and cost management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Cultivate positive client relationships to ensure satisfaction, mitigate risks, and identify future opportunities.
• Review and report on project revenues, profitability, and financial performance.
• Manage project variations and advise the finance team on associated fees.

Resource Management

• Oversee resource allocation and ensure efficient utilization across projects.
• Collaborate with project managers to align skills and tasks effectively.
• Work with department heads to forecast staffing needs and maintain appropriate capacity for project demands.
• Track resource performance and resolve inefficiencies proactively.
• Maximise resource utilisation rates and ensure alignment with project objectives.

Bid and Proposal Management

• Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bids, ensuring timely and compliant documentation.
• Negotiate and review contract terms with clients and subconsultants to strengthen bid submissions.
• Collaborate with business development and design teams to develop winning proposals and pricing strategies.
• Translate client requirements into actionable deliverables, addressing scope gaps.
• Stay informed on industry trends, competitor pricing, and best practices to enhance competitiveness.
• Integrate finalized contract terms into awarded projects and subconsultant agreements.

Deltek Vantagepoint

• Manage the organization-wide use of Deltek Vantagepoint, ensuring data integrity and accurate inputs.
• Provide timely resource reports and highlight gaps to management and team leaders.
• Leverage Deltek Vantagepoint to streamline commercial and resource management processes.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Architecture, or related fields; a master's degree or professional certification (e.g., MRICS) is advantageous.
• At least 10 years of experience in commercial management within architecture, engineering, or construction sectors.
• Strong expertise in financial principles, contract negotiation, and risk management.
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale projects and budgets.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project and resource management tools.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with competing priorities.
