International Bechtel Company Ltd is providing engineering and project management support to our customer for the development of a next-generation city on the Mediterranean coast. The Project will cover the development of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, tourism amenities, and economic zones.

IMPORTANT: This is initially a short-term single status assignment at the project head office in Abu Dhabi, UAE until November 2025, potentially followed by an on-site project assignment.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will assist the Project Manager by administering prime contracts for complex projects. You will work with the project team to establish the contract baseline, management process, general terms, change orders, and the claims program. You will raise awareness of risks, identify revenue growth opportunities, and recommend actions to protect Bechtel’s interest and improve project performance.

Major Responsibilities:

  • With the project team, identifies the contract baseline, including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule, and other documents incorporated in the contract.
  • Develops and maintains the prime contract management processes, procedures, tools, and training as outlined in the Prime Contract Management Manual and related business unit functional procedures, including the Prime Contract Management Responsibilities Matrix, the Prime Contract Action/Notice List/Liability Containment Plan/Flowdown Matrix (or comparable tools) identifying the specific contract actions and obligations of Bechtel and the customer and the individual responsible for each action.
  • Prepares an analysis of the prime contract general terms and conditions to highlight areas of potential risk such as ambiguities, omissions, and conflicts.
  • Establishes a Project Change Procedure, incorporating the Pending Item Program, to provide a methodology to identify changes, quantify the additional time and compensation due Bechtel per the contract, define approval requirements and communicate changes to the Customer; prepares and negotiates change orders as directed.
  • Works with Construction, Engineering, Supply Chain, Legal and Risk Management to ensure that subcontracts contain appropriate flow down of prime contract terms and assists in facilitating organizational interfaces between those performing subcontract formation and administration.
  • Participates in project related meetings, works closely with Construction, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Controls, and reviews project financial data to ensure awareness of all project activities that may affect the prime contract, identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement, schedules relief and claim avoidance, recommends appropriate actions to protect Bechtel’s interest and/or improve project performance, and ensures compliance with prime contract terms and conditions.
  • Develops a program to identify and prepare claims as they develop and direct the efforts to negotiate and resolve claims in coordination with the Claims Group and Legal Department.
  • Works with Risk Management organization on any occurrences that may be covered by Customer or Bechtel provided Insurance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 15-years of team leadership and 20+ years of experience in commercial or contracts management functions.
  • Fluency in English, oral and written.
  • Experience in development and delivery of training.
  • Thorough knowledge of prime contracts management, contract formation and administration and project controls (cost and schedule/planning).
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities suitable for managing a workforce of many nationalities and backgrounds.
  • Experience and completion of courses in pricing, contract law, contract drafting, contract administration and negotiation, planning and scheduling.
