Job Summary

The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. The role is responsible for maintaining part quality, safety standards, and company equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all safety rules and policies provided by NOV.
• Produce/machine threaded connections and parts as per provided drawings and programs.
• Inspect and verify that each thread and part meets the specifications.
• Follow guidelines provided by the Superintendent.
• Maintain a neat and clean working environment.
• Care for, use, and protect all company equipment. Understand and follow all safety rules.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
• Perform duties accurately and responsibly; verify parts and work orders.

BEHAVIORAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Observe and listen to operating machines to diagnose malfunctions and determine adjustments needed.
• Study first article parts, drawings, and engineering data to determine methods, sequences, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Math Skills: Good math skills are essential to understand complex instructions, schematics, and ensure correct design and construction.
• Problem Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues affecting machine performance, increase output, and fix errors.
• Attention to Detail: Precision is critical; working with thousandths of an inch requires keen attention.
• Mechanical and Technical Skills: Understanding CAD/CAM technology and machine operation.
• Stamina: Ability to work long hours performing repetitive tasks.
• Conceptual Skills: Process improvement, communication, technical knowledge, tooling, coordination, judgment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• DME, ITI, or vocational training in mechanical engineering with at least 2 years of experience.
• Experience in Turner, Machinist, or Fitter trades.

Experience with specific machinery:

• DMG Mori: Beta-CTX2000 TC, Gamma CTX3000TC
• Mazak Machines: Integrex 400, ST450, STN500/550M
• ROMI Machine: M33, M43
• Doosan: Puma700LM, DBC130L

Additional skills and knowledge:

• Familiarity with operating CNC machines for Rotatory Shoulder Connections (API, Grant Prideco, Tenaris, Vam, etc.) and HWDP (drill pipe, drill collars, drill stem components).
• Ability to communicate in English and follow written and verbal instructions.
