The Chief Engineer oversees all engineering operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the property. This includes maintaining, repairing, and operating all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, as well as ensuring compliance with regulations, safety standards, and Hyatt policies.

The role requires a leader with strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to motivate and manage a team while maintaining high service standards and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure all equipment functions efficiently, minimizing downtime and energy consumption.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead, train, and motivate the engineering team to achieve operational excellence.
  • Schedule and monitor daily activities of the engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Manage hazardous materials and waste disposal properly.
  • Develop and execute energy management strategies for resource efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for sustainable practices and energy conservation.
  • Manage the engineering department's budget for cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare and review budgets for engineering projects.
  • Oversee vendor contracts, negotiate pricing, and ensure quality services.
  • Plan and execute engineering projects, including renovations and upgrades.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for timely project completion.
  • Address and resolve guest concerns related to engineering or maintenance.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment to ensure guest satisfaction.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in hospitality.
  • Proven knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and building codes.
  • Strong knowledge of energy management systems and sustainability practices.
  • Experience managing budgets and engineering projects.
