Job summary

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) is seeking a dedicated Cleaning Attendant to maintain a clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming campus environment across classrooms, offices, restrooms, and other facilities. The role requires following health and hygiene procedures and may involve weekends or events.

Ideal candidates bring 1–3 years of cleaning experience or a similar background, with a High School Diploma preferred. Accommodation and transportation are provided per university policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of cleaning/housekeeping experience.
• Experience in institutional environments is an advantage.
• Knowledge of cleaning products and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, corridors, stairways, common areas, and other university facilities.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, washrooms, and related facilities regularly and ensure they are adequately supplied.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
• Empty waste bins and dispose of general waste and recyclables in accordance with University procedures.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, including doors, handles, desks, tables, and other shared areas.
• Assist with moving or rearranging furniture and equipment when required for cleaning, events, or operational purposes.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards identified during daily cleaning activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining classrooms, offices, corridors, common areas, restrooms, and other University facilities in accordance with established cleanliness and safety standards.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: AED 1,500 per month+ Accommodation and Transportation, Plus Additional benefits as per university policy

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.

Experience

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or a similar role.
• Previous experience in a university, school, hotel, hospital, office, or other institutional environment is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, corridors, stairways, common areas, and other University facilities to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, washrooms, and related facilities regularly and ensure they are adequately supplied.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
• Empty waste bins and dispose of general waste and recyclables in accordance with University procedures.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, including doors, handles, desks, tables, and other shared areas.
• Clean and maintain furniture, fixtures, glass surfaces, windows, and other assigned areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of pantries, staff areas, and common facilities.
• Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies, including tissues, soap, sanitizers, and other required materials.
• Monitor cleaning materials and equipment and report shortages, damage, or malfunction to the supervisor.
• Use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment safely and in accordance with established procedures.
• Assist with the preparation and cleaning of facilities before and after University events, meetings, and activities.
• Assist with moving or rearranging furniture and equipment when required for cleaning, events, or operational purposes.
• Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, damages, or other concerns identified during daily cleaning activities.
• Ensure assigned areas remain clean and presentable throughout working hours.
• Follow all University health, safety, hygiene, and security policies and procedures.
• Perform other cleaning, housekeeping, and related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Working Environment

The position requires working across different areas of the University campus and may involve extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and performing physical cleaning activities. The Cleaning Attendant may also be required to work according to shift schedules, including weekends or during University events, based on operational requirements.
