Job Description The Civil Works Manager will oversee civil and structural delivery across two interconnected areas of the High Speed Rail project: the main depot environment and buildings distributed along the railway alignment. The position requires effective coordination between building and infrastructure works and the railway 's track, systems, utilities, power, signalling, overhead contact system, and MEP interfaces. Particular attention will be required to construction sequencing and the integration of depot and wayside facilities with the wider rail program.

Depot Buildings

• Manage the design development, technical review, and construction of civil and structural works for depot facilities.
• Oversee rolling stock maintenance workshops, stabling sheds, inspection pits, wheel-lathe facilities, wash-plant buildings, and their associated foundations and structures.
• Direct delivery of depot administration buildings, operations control facilities, warehouses and stores, fuel and lubrication facilities, fire stations, security buildings, and staff welfare facilities.
• Manage depot-wide civil infrastructure including internal roads, hardstanding areas, drainage, retaining structures, and boundary works.
• Ensure depot civil works are properly coordinated with track, railway systems, and utility infrastructure.
• Manage interfaces with permanent way, overhead contact system, signalling, power, and building services contractors operating within the depot footprint.

Online and Wayside Buildings

• Manage civil and structural works for operational buildings positioned along the railway alignment.
• Oversee signalling equipment rooms, traction power substations, OCS feeder stations, telecommunications huts, ventilation and plant buildings, and emergency access and escape structures.
• Manage station-related civil and structural elements together with patrol and maintenance buildings, staff welfare cabins, and security posts located along the rail corridor.
• Ensure wayside building construction is appropriately sequenced with earthworks, structures, track possessions, and railway systems installation.
• Coordinate interfaces between building construction activities and other works progressing along the alignment.

The Civil Works Manager will provide technical oversight across the depot and online building packages while maintaining alignment between design requirements and construction delivery. The position will support coordinated execution of structural, civil, rail systems, and building-related interfaces while monitoring quality, schedule, cost, and compliance requirements. The manager will work across multiple disciplines and delivery parties to identify interface requirements, resolve technical and construction coordination matters, and maintain the required standards throughout project implementation.

The role provides exposure to a broad range of specialist High Speed Rail assets, including rolling stock maintenance facilities, depot infrastructure, operational buildings, signalling facilities, traction power infrastructure, telecommunications buildings, railway corridor structures, and associated civil works.
