Job summary

Archirodon is seeking a Civil Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for civil, structural and building scopes of EPC/EPCC tenders across the Middle East and North Africa.

Responsibilities include performing quantity take-offs from drawings, developing unit rates from first principles, identifying scope gaps and risks, and building detailed estimates for civil and structural works under tight tender timelines in GCC markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
• 5–7 years estimating experience in EPC Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical projects, preferably with at least 3 years in the GCC.
• Hands‑on pricing of the civil scope of NOC tenders (e.g. ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, PDO).

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs from civil/structural drawings and foundations.
• Identify scope gaps and risks; prepare technical queries for clients.
• Develop detailed estimates for the civil and structural works.
• Build unit rates from first principles using labour, plant, materials, and subcontract.
• Prepare manpower histograms and equipment requirements; input to planning.
• Tight tender timelines; manage several bids in parallel.
• Price lump-sum work with limited FEED or preliminary engineering; assess quantity growth.
• Account for volatile prices and regional variations in GCC and North Africa.
• Consider geotechnical uncertainty and remote site logistics.
• Different client standards and commercial conditions across countries.

Job Description

The Civil Estimator prepares accurate, competitive and well-qualified cost estimates for the civil, structural and building scopes of EPC / EPCC tenders for oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical and gas-processing projects across the Middle East and North Africa.

• Perform and verify quantity take-offs from plot plans, civil / structural GA drawings, foundation layouts, steel structure and architectural drawings; where FEED is limited, develop quantities from benchmarks, ratios and historical data.
• Identify scope gaps, ambiguities and risks, and prepare technical queries and clarifications for the client.
• Develop detailed estimates for the entire scope of the Civil & Structural works.
• Build unit rates from first principles (labour, plant, materials, subcontract) using productivity norms adjusted for Middle East conditions – summer working-hour restrictions, remote desert sites and logistics.
• Prepare manpower histograms, construction equipment requirements and durations, and provide inputs to planning, site indirects and temporary works.
• Tight tender timelines, often with several bids running in parallel.
• Pricing lump-sum work with limited FEED or preliminary engineering, with the risk of quantity growth.
• Volatile commodity prices (steel, rebar, cement) and wide regional variation in rates across the GCC and North Africa.
• Geotechnical uncertainty, remote site logistics and heat-related productivity loss
• Different client standards, methods of measurement and commercial conditions from country to country.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
• 5–7 years of estimating experience in EPC Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical projects, preferably with at least 3 years in the GCC.
• Hands‑on pricing of the civil scope of NOC tenders (e.g. ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, PDO, KOC).
• High attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Able to work to tight deadlines and manage several bids at once.
• Analytical, with sound commercial and risk judgement.
• Communicates assumptions and qualifications clearly to engineering, management and clients.
• Team player who coordinates well across disciplines; handles pricing data with integrity and confidentiality
