The job incumbent takes ownership of the System Engineering outputs of the program and ensures that the System functional performance meets system requirements. He/She also ensures traceability and interface compliance to the system specification of the product.
Key Accountabilities:
- Technical Leadership
Serve as a system engineering expert in armoured fighting vehicles at system and subsystem levels and functional use guidelines.
Ensure that all system designs and integration are optimized for performance and compliance with the specific requirements of armoured fighting vehicles as per the applicable functional requirements and specifications.
Lead technical reviews and design audits.
Coach and mentor junior team members and contribute to the knowledge base of the team through collaborative exchange. - Requirement Analysis
Analyze stakeholder requirements and compile detailed system specifications to guide downstream development to ensure that technical and functional requirements are met.
Utilize system-level modelling and simulation as a rapid prototyping tool to assess concept feasibility and ensure compliance with requirements.
Support system safety, design, and software development by analyzing requirements and incorporating verification-oriented results. - System Design and Integration
Develop system architecture and lead the transition from concept to compliant components with emphasis on modular, open architecture implementations suitable to the envisaged range of customer platforms.
Support platform integration assessment and integration design effort to ensure correct and compliant installation of the system.
Provide inputs to subsystem and software specifications, ensuring they include achievable test verification criteria that are fully traceable from user requirements through operational testing.
Ensure seamless integration of subsystems and components. - Testing and Validation
Ensuring technical performance of the system by validating test & evaluation results of sub-systems and products system against System Requirements.
Design and execute system test plans and procedures.
Analyze and verify test results, fully traceable from User Requirement through to operational testing. - Collaboration
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment.
Facilitate regular communication between engineering and other departments.
Maintain the User Value System as defined in the URS in conjunction with the Capability Advisor and provide guidance to the technical design team on the impact of conceptualized changes to the system. - Documentation
Prepare system- and detail design documents and guide the establishment of lower order specifications and support documentation like user manuals.
Support and coordinate generation of system technical material for proposal preparations and as contract deliverables.
Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical relevant documentation.
Ensure technical baseline management of the program. - Compliance
Ensure systems meet industry and operational safety standards and regulations.
Conduct regular audits/reviews to ensure ongoing alignment of system/product design with specified requirements.
Develop and maintain a requirements traceability matrix, ensuring all requirements are tracked and met throughout the program/project lifecycle. - Technical Project Management
Compile and maintain the System Engineering Management Plan for the system/product.
Compile and maintain the Test and Evaluation Engineering Management Plan for the system/product.
