About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational and technical performance of a major ship repair yard.

As a key member of the senior management team, you will be accountable for yard operations, production performance, and technical excellence.

This is a strategic yet hands-on position, requiring a Marine Engineering degree (or equivalent), proven experience in ship repair operations, and the ability to drive efficiency, safety, and profitability across large-scale, multicultural teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all ship repair, refit, and maintenance operations
• Manage and develop production, engineering, and support functions across the yard
• Ensure full compliance with international safety, quality, and environmental standards
• Oversee dry dock operations, floating docks, equipment, and yard infrastructure
• Maintain effective communication with clients, suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders
• Drive operational performance improvements, cost efficiency, and workforce development
• Contribute to the company’s strategic growth, innovation, and client delivery
• Act as the operational lead (COO function), reporting directly to the CEO / Managing Director

Candidate Profile

• Marine Engineering degree (or closely related technical qualification) required
• Solid technical understanding of all ship repair processes and procedures
• 5+ years of experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, or heavy marine engineering
• Track record of operational leadership in a shipyard
• Deep knowledge of dockyard operations, repair processes, and workforce management
• Excellent leadership and team-building skills with the ability to manage diverse, multicultural teams
• Experience relocating internationally is beneficial
• Fluent in English - other languages a big plus
• Resilient, adaptable, and motivated to succeed in an international setting
