Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Summary

Are you a strategic financial leader ready to shape the future of a dynamic construction company? As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you’ll play a pivotal role in driving financial excellence, supporting operational success, and positioning the company for sustainable growth in the competitive UAE construction and urban landscaping sector.

The CFO will oversee all financial activities, including financial strategy, banking relationships, cash flow management, and risk mitigation, particularly critical in the high-value, project-driven contracting industry. The ideal candidate must have established, strong relationships with banks and financial institutions in the UAE and a proven ability to leverage these connections to secure project financing, credit facilities, and working capital solutions critical for the construction sector. Additionally, they should bring extensive UAE experience and a deep understanding of the construction sector’s financial dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute financial strategies to support business growth, project execution, and long-term sustainability in the UAE construction market.
  • Advise the CEO and executive team on financial performance, risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Contribute to corporate strategic planning, including joint ventures, partnerships, and potential M&A activity relevant to the construction industry.

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Oversee accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reports in compliance with UAE laws and IFRS.
  • Monitor financial performance, providing actionable insights to improve project profitability and cost controls.
  • Implement financial KPIs tied to project performance, cash flow, and margin optimization.

Cash Flow & Capital Management

  • Manage cash flow planning and forecasting to support project needs, supplier payments, and operational requirements.
  • Negotiate and manage banking facilities, including project financing, bonding, guarantees, and working capital lines, critical for contracting operations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local and regional banks and financial institutions.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with project and operational leaders to ensure realistic projections.
  • Regularly forecast financial performance, adjusting for market fluctuations, material price volatility, and project pipeline changes.

Cost Management & Profitability

  • Oversee cost control measures to optimize profitability across multiple construction projects.
  • Analyze project financials, identify inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support operational teams in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify and manage financial risks unique to the construction industry, including project delays, contractual exposures, and client payment risks.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE tax regulations, labor laws, and construction-specific legal requirements.
  • Oversee insurance programs relevant to large-scale construction projects.

Business Unit Support

  • Partner with project managers and operational leaders to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Develop financial literacy within project teams, helping them manage budgets and control project costs effectively.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop succession plans and ensure strong talent pipelines within the finance function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles, with significant exposure to the UAE construction or contracting sector.
  • Must have Proven expertise in managing banking relationships within the UAE, project financing, bonding, and financial operations in a contracting environment.
  • Must have Strong knowledge of UAE financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Relationships with government and semi-government clients, and familiarity with regulatory requirements tied to public sector contracting.
  • Experience with IFRS and ERP systems used in the construction industry.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in English required; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
