Job summary

NMDC Group seeks a Chief Engineer for a self-propelled cutter suction dredger to lead the engine department, ensure safe operation and reliable performance of all machinery.

You will oversee propulsion, generators, pumps, PMS maintenance, and compliance with Class, IMO, SOLAS, and ISM, while mentoring crew and optimizing production.

This role requires 5–10 years of rank experience on dredgers and valid Chief Engineer certificate; medical fitness per ILO/MLC is also required.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer required.
• STCW basic and advanced certificates must be valid.
• Medical fitness certificate per ILO/MLC.
• 5–10 years of rank experience onboard a dredger.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of engine department ensuring safe operation of machinery.
• Operate and maintain main and auxiliary engines, generators and pumps.
• Plan preventive maintenance per PMS and supervise engine room crew.
• Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, IMO, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM.
• Coordinate dry-docking, overhauls, and major repairs with shore team.
• Monitor inventories and maintain records and manuals.

Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer

Basic STCW training certificates

Advanced STCW training certificates

Medical fitness certificate as per ILO/MLC requirements
