Job description

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering Department, ensuring the optimal functioning and maintenance of the hotel s facilities and equipment. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this leadership role encompasses managing preventive and corrective maintenance, leading and mentoring a team of engineers, handling departmental budgeting, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and implementing sustainability initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering team, promoting a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Oversee the preventive and corrective maintenance of hotel facilities, ensuring operational efficiency and guest comfort.
• Ensure adherence to local regulations, including fire safety, WHS, and other relevant laws.
• Lead capital improvement projects, handle contractor management, and carry out maintenance work as needed.
• Design and implement energy-saving solutions and sustainable practices.
• Monitor departmental budgets, control costs, and produce quarterly and monthly maintenance reports.
• Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure minimal disruption and enhance overall guest experience.
• Prepare and submit capital expenditure proposals, and manage associated projects.
