2. Mission / Core Purpose of the Job

The Chief Communication Platforms Business Officer (CCPBO) will assume full P&L ownership of a multi-million USD strategic Wholesale Mobile Connectivity business unit. S / he will drive the entire value chain and deliver targets related to revenue, profit, customer experience, and new product launches across all service lines. The CCPBO will lead a skilled team of sales, presales, commercial, product, and business operations experts responsible for the commercialization of Bayobab’s Y’ello Connect platform infrastructure.

The CCPBO will be fully accountable for strategy, management, people, and performance across wholesale international voice, messaging, signaling, IPX, roaming, and digital identity business lines.

The role involves driving international business revenue and margin targets, identifying new growth opportunities through :

  • Sales Management : Providing leadership and driving growth initiatives.
  • Commercial Management : Launching new services, expanding Bayobab Connect Hub coverage, and ensuring high NPS.
  • Operations Management : Maximizing revenue through reliable platforms and networks, overseeing cost, rate, route, monitor, and invoice functions.
  • People Management : Supporting the team with industry insights, skills training, and work-life balance initiatives.
3. Context

Bayobab has established a growing wholesale carrier business across fixed and mobility lines, where consolidation of services like International Voice, Messaging, Signaling, Roaming, and VAS is crucial for excellence. The function must ensure successful delivery considering :

  • MTN’s position as the leading international mobile and roaming provider in Africa and the Middle East.
  • MTN’s strategy to centralize management of all international cross-border traffic.
  • Staying updated with global industry trends and standardization efforts.
  • Translating complex stakeholder requirements into deliverable projects to support growth.
  • Driving sales, commercial, and product strategies.
  • Achieving operational excellence through scale and standardized processes.
  • Reviewing market pricing, wholesale and roaming partnerships for optimal quality and rates.
  • Collaborating with the international telecommunications community.
  • Aligning initiatives with Group and OpCo business needs.
  • Understanding wholesale billing platforms, settlements, and negotiations.
  • Considering the geographic complexity and competitiveness of MTN’s Africa & Middle East footprint.
  • Managing diverse regulatory environments across jurisdictions.
  • Supporting MTN Group’s diversification strategy.
