Job description

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to manage the accounting functions of our growing Taxi and Limo Company . The Chief Accountant will handle all accounting activities including document processing, bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, tax filings, driver payment reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, and payroll processing. This role reports directly to the CEO and CFO, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.

The Chief Accountant will work independently, with the potential for a future assistant as the company expands. The Finance Team will control overall cash flow, while the Accountant will focus on ensuring financial records are properly maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

Initial Documents Processing and Bookkeeping:

  • Process and record incoming financial documents such as invoices, receipts, and contracts.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger, journals, and other accounting records.

Balance Sheet Preparation:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheets in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure proper classification of assets, liabilities, and equity.

Profit and Loss Statement:

  • Prepare accurate profit and loss statements to assess and report on the company’s financial performance.
  • Ensure correct categorization of revenue and expenses.

Tax Calculation and Filing:

  • Calculate and prepare tax returns, including VAT, income tax, and other tax-related filings, in accordance with UAE regulations.
  • Ensure timely submission of tax filings and payments.

Weekly Cash Collection and Driver Reconciliation:

  • Oversee the weekly collection of cash from drivers and ensure reconciliation with company financial records.
  • Monitor driver payments and commissions, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.

Supplier Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile supplier accounts to ensure accurate records of payments and balances.
  • Manage supplier relations, ensuring payments are processed timely and accurately.

Salary Processing and WPS:

  • Process monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with the UAE Wages Protection System (WPS).
  • Review payroll for accuracy, including deductions, allowances, and overtime.
  • Sign off and distribute payslips to all employees.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate monthly financial reports for the CEO and CFO, including income statements, balance sheets, and other financial data.
  • Provide insights and analysis on financial performance, identifying areas of improvement.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all local financial regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and resolving any audit queries.

Collaboration with the Finance Team:

  • Collaborate with the Finance Team to ensure smooth cash flow management and support strategic financial decision-making.
  • Provide financial data to assist the Finance Team in cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
  • Work closely with the Finance Team during salary calculation process.

Team Management and Future Growth:

  • Manage all accounting functions independently, with the potential to lead an assistant accountant as the company expands (when fleet reaches 60 vehicles and 80 drivers).
  • Coordinate with other departments as needed to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.

Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting in the UAE, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Previous experience in the transportation or hospitality industry is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of UAE Tax laws, Labor Laws, WPS, IFRS and local accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
