Job description

Segregation of waste, collection of waste from different sections and place in the designated areas Prepares all the plants’ chemical solutions under supervision for Boiler, Town Water, Distillers and Water Treatment, Hypo chlorination plant.

Maintains the account of daily chemical consumption.

2 Duties and Responsibilities

a. Verification of Waste Declaration, Collection of waste from different sections

b. Segregation of waste depending on the waste category

c. Responsible for area management and safekeeping the key for Waste Recycle Center

d. Dealing with waste contractors; calling them, and supervise the waste collection

e. Process gate pass for materials IN/OUT during waste collection

f. Cleaning of used Chemical drums

g. Responsible to prepare chemical solutions used in the site processes on daily basis

h. Dosing/flushing valves line-up and clean strainers available with chemical dosing pumps

i. Assist the Chemistry supervisor/chemist in plant chemical cleaning as and when required

j. Keeping accounts of daily consumption of chemicals and assist Chemistry Supervisor for movement of the bulk chemicals from Stores to site.

Responsible to prepare chemical solution in different plants as follows:

1. Boilers : 10 units

3. Town Water Plants : 2 nos.

4. Hypo Plants : 3 nos.

5. Acid Cleaning of Hypo Plants & Distillers Plants

6. Water Treatment Plants

*Training shall be given by ITM O&M Co.

1. Able to identify various waste materials and chemicals

2. Knowledgeable in waste segregation

3. Able to determine chemical risks and identify hazards

4. Knowledgeable in chemical preparation

5. Able to follow HS&E rules and instructions

6. Able to drive fork lift for shifting chemicals is an advantage

4 Reporting Hierarchy

Direct : 1) Senior Chemist and Environmental Officer

5 Physical Effort

80 % while carrying out daily activities with wastes and chemicals.

• 80 % of the work time, expose to different wastes and chemicals

• 20% in office work

• Called out after working hours in case of exigencies

• Help to ensure safe working environment.

• Report all accidents, near misses, and safety concerns to the Supervisor and HSS section.

• Work as per procedure & best safety practice required to ensure safe HSS.

• Stop operations that are in clear violation of the safety requirements, approved SOPs, or may potentially result in injuries or potential exposures to hazards.

• Use personal protective equipment and engineering controls appropriate to their work

• Report all unsafe conditions to supervisor or safety committee as soon as is reasonably possible.

• Warn co-workers about defective equipment and other hazards.

• Participate in health and safety training applicable to their work situation.

• Participate in required site safety inspection and monitoring programs as and when required.

• Must know, in case of emergency how to communicate with HSS & Plant Chem Supervisor.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum qualification and experience

a) Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Equivalent. Diploma holder will have an added advantage

b) Possess a good health.

c) 2 years in chemical handling/ 5 years work experience in Power and Desalination plant

Language: Communication in English is essential requirement.
