Job Summary:

A Caster in the ceramics industry is responsible for preparing and pouring slip into molds to form ceramic products such as sanitary ware, tableware, tiles, or other ceramic components. The role involves handling molds, maintaining consistency in product quality, and ensuring proper drying and demolding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and mix ceramic slip as per formulation.
• Pour slip into plaster molds according to production schedules.
• Monitor mold filling and draining to ensure proper thickness and avoid defects.
• Maintain molds, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
• Handle demolding operations carefully to avoid breakage or damage.
• Place cast items on drying racks or conveyor belts.
• Inspect cast items for imperfections and perform minor touch-ups if required.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safety and quality.
• Record production data and report issues to supervisors.
• Assist in cleaning work areas and maintaining tools/equipment.
  

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum education: 10th Pass or ITI preferred.
• Experience in ceramic casting or molding operations.
• Knowledge of slip preparation and mold handling techniques.
• Basic understanding of quality control in ceramics.
• Attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work in hot, dusty, and humid environments.
• Physical stamina for standing long hours and lifting molds.
  

Preferred Experience:

• 1-3 years in a ceramic manufacturing unit.
• Familiarity with sanitary ware or tableware production is a plus.
