What you’ll do:
- The category manager will be responsible for the category strategy and have complete ownership of the category P&L. Work closely with senior management as well as account managers on planning and delivering business strategy.
- Inspire, lead, and manage a team of buyers and merchandisers. Effectively communicate and enable the team to deliver their KPIs and manage their performance.
- Drive category reviews by establishing mechanisms to track and evaluate sales performance. Be aware of market sales trends and competitor trading activities to identify critical business factors and propose action plans to increase sales and profitability.
- Manage, strengthen, and grow key brand relationships. Define growth opportunities.
- Review capital allocation and work with teams to determine buying requirements and formulate a buying plan for Namshi, based on historical trends and future forecasts.
- Create buying plans to ensure profitability by maintaining consumer-focused lines and managing SKU performance and efficiency.
- Review and negotiate brand contracts to ensure favorable terms for Namshi and reduce potential risks on stocks or margins.
- Identify new sourcing opportunities to maintain the category's competitive edge, including opportunity analysis, supplier landscape assessment, supplier management, process optimization, and execution of agreements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as finance, marketing, operations, logistics, legal, and product to identify and implement process improvements.
What you’ll need:
- Masters in Business Administration or a similar field.
- 8+ years of experience in category management, sourcing, or buying with major retailers or multinational companies, preferably with cross-border experience.
- Strong negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly data-driven and analytical, capable of making data-based decisions.
- Team management experience.
- Strategic thinking and execution skills.
- Understanding of current market conditions and ability to drive savings through category strategies.
- Strong understanding of the ecommerce industry and influencing skills to persuade and close deals.
- Ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels, including senior management.
