Responsibilities

Main Duties:

  • Support students' personal, academic, and career development by guiding university choices, career pathways, and skills for success.
  • Track and assess students' progress, providing tailored support to meet academic and career goals.
  • Assist students with university applications, career planning, and post-school life preparation.
  • Perform roles within the school such as duties and extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development as required by the school.

Specific Duties:

Career Counselling:

  • Implement guidance programs aligned with school policy, ensuring appropriate guidance on postsecondary education and careers.
  • Guide students from Cycle 2 onwards on career aspirations, portfolio planning, subject choices, and extracurricular activities.
  • Help students identify suitable local and international postsecondary options and support application submissions.
  • Engage with parents throughout the guidance process, emphasizing student agency.
  • Provide administrative support for applications, including recommendation letters and personal statement reviews.
  • Build relationships with postsecondary institutions for opportunities like visits and internships.
  • Engage in professional development to stay updated.
  • Support gifted, talented, and students with additional needs with tailored guidance, scholarships, and mentorship.
  • Organize guidance events and maintain a calendar of key dates.
  • Coordinate career and university guidance activities for student exploration and decision-making.
  • Foster relationships with alumni and track their pathways.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least a QFE 7 (Bachelor's Degree) in any subject, with ongoing CPD compliance, or
  • Experience as a teacher/educator with a QFE 7 qualification.

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 2 years of school counselling or related experience.
