Overview of the role:

Maintains aspirational hospitality and fresh counter standards throughout the trading day for customers and colleagues. Ensures a safe and legal working environment for all.

What you will do:

Description of Accountability:

  • Maintains aspirational Hospitality and Fresh Counter standards throughout the trading day for customers and colleagues.
  • Uses the Ready to Trade Checklist and product specification checklist to maintain opening standards.
  • Ensures products are displayed according to visual standards for opening and maintained at all times.
  • Implements principles of ‘Clean As You Go’ for kit, counters, and seating areas.
  • Logs equipment failures in line with the checklist provided.
  • Prepares the product for the customer focusing on presentation, quality, and efficiency as per the SOP.
  • Maintains a high level of personal and food hygiene at all times.
  • Is aware of sales targets and uses this information to drive additional sales.
  • Uses product knowledge to support customers with their purchase, including location, newness, nutritional content, size, differences from competitors, and price range.
  • Seeks opportunities to promote deals and offers, upsell, and recommend complementary products.
  • Drives Units Per Transaction by ensuring correct products are in the right place and replenished.
  • Helps customers shop via different options such as cake orders, takeaway service, menu orders, and during Ramadan, call and collect.
  • Provides targeted product tastings to educate customers, increase awareness, and boost sales.
  • Understands the unique selling points of M&S products compared to other retailers.
  • Uses selling skills and product knowledge to personally drive sales.

Replenishes products throughout the trading day, checks stock reports, maintains stock system integrity, and conducts stock counts.

Maintains a safe and legal working environment by completing DEF processes, temperature checks, legal ticketing, and hazard awareness.

Required Skills:
  • Friendly, engaging personality; comfortable working with the public.
  • Confident, helpful, polite, and physically fit for prolonged standing.
  • Understanding of retail, F&B, or fast-moving stock areas.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • F&B hygiene knowledge and certification.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting.
  • Ability to stand for at least 8 hours.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma (Bachelor preferred).
  • 4-5 years’ experience in F&B.
  • Proven goal achievement capability.
  • Good personality, communication, and relationship skills.
  • Strong sense of accountability.
