Job summary

Al Tayeb Engineering Turning seeks a skilled CAD Designer to convert customer designs into production-ready files for CNC laser and waterjet cutting. You will create accurate 2D drawings, optimize layouts, and coordinate with the production team to ensure quality and efficiency.

The role requires proficiency in CAD tools like AutoCAD or SolidWorks, experience with DXF/DWG formats, and strong attention to dimensional tolerances. Candidates familiar with nesting software will have an advantage.

Qualifications

• Experience as a CAD designer in CNC laser cutting, waterjet cutting or sheet metal fabrication.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar design tools.
• Knowledge of DXF and DWG formats for machine operation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with tolerances.
• Experience with nesting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D CAD drawings and cutting files for CNC laser cutting and waterjet cutting machines.
• Prepare production-ready files with correct dimensions, tolerances, layouts, and cutting paths.
• Convert drawings and references into machine-compatible formats for CNC cutting operations.
• Optimize cutting layouts to minimize material wastage and improve production efficiency.
• Coordinate with machine operators and production teams to ensure files meet capabilities and requirements.
• Review drawings for accuracy and adjust before production.
• Maintain organized records of CAD drawings, cutting programs, revisions, and customer files.
• Provide technical support to production and troubleshoot file-related issues.

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer with experience in preparing technical drawings and cutting files for CNC machines, particularly laser cutting and waterjet cutting machines. The ideal candidate should be proficient in CAD software, understand engineering drawings and material specifications, and be capable of converting customer designs into accurate production-ready files. The candidate will work closely with the production team to ensure precision, minimize material wastage, and maintain efficient cutting operations.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D CAD drawings and cutting files for CNC laser cutting and waterjet cutting machines based on customer requirements and technical specifications.

• Prepare accurate production-ready files using suitable CAD software, ensuring correct dimensions, tolerances, layouts, and cutting paths.

• Convert engineering drawings, sketches, PDFs, and other design references into machine-compatible formats for CNC cutting operations.

• Optimize cutting layouts and nesting arrangements to minimize material wastage and improve production efficiency.

• Coordinate with machine operators and production teams to ensure drawings and cutting files meet machine capabilities and manufacturing requirements.

• Review technical drawings for accuracy, identify design errors, and make necessary adjustments before production.

• Maintain organized records of CAD drawings, cutting programs, revisions, and customer-specific design files.

• Provide technical support to the production team and troubleshoot drawing or file-related issues during the manufacturing process.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, CAD Design, Drafting, or a related technical field is preferred.

• Proven experience as a CAD Designer, particularly in CNC laser cutting, waterjet cutting, sheet metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing environments.

• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other relevant design and drafting tools.

• Knowledge of CNC cutting file formats, including DXF and DWG, and experience preparing files suitable for machine operation.

• Good understanding of technical drawings, engineering dimensions, tolerances, material thicknesses, and fabrication processes.

• Experience with nesting software and cutting layout optimization will be an advantage.

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work accurately under production deadlines.

• Ability to coordinate effectively with production teams and follow technical instructions and quality standards.
