We are seeking a high-performing, action-oriented Buyer to join the Orbitworks team to support the rapid setup of our satellite manufacturing facility in the UAE. This role is crucial for ensuring the fast-paced procurement of materials and services with accuracy, efficiency, and accountability. The ideal candidate will be versatile, thrive in high-pressure environments, be a self-starter, and have a successful track record in manufacturing or industrial procurement.
About This Role:
- Source and procure materials, hardware, and services, ensuring timely delivery to meet engineering and production requirements.
- Lead subcontracting efforts, including preparation, negotiation, and management of purchase orders, contracts, and subcontracts.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, terms, and delivery schedules while fostering long-term, sustainable relationships.
- Oversee inventory levels and work with internal teams to develop procurement strategies aligned with company goals.
- Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and quality standards; continuously improve procurement processes.
- Manage purchase orders, contracts, and agreements; proactively resolve conflicts or issues with suppliers.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and logistics teams to align procurement with schedules.
- Track purchasing activity, report on spending, and provide insights on procurement performance and cost optimization.
- Coordinate logistics for deliveries, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation.
- Leverage contractual agreements with vendors to optimize the supply chain.
- Manage supplier communications, follow-ups, and expedite orders to prevent delays.
- Maintain comprehensive procurement documentation and audit trails.
- Identify potential supplier risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Ensure ERP data accuracy (preferably NetSuite), including pricing, lead times, PO tracking, and GRN status.
- Support the Supply Chain Director in sourcing planning and onboarding new suppliers.
- This is a contractual role based in the UAE. Candidates must have valid UAE residency and work authorization. Experience in setup during manufacturing ramp-ups or greenfield projects is preferred.
Must Haves:
- 3-5 years of procurement experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors (aerospace or defense preferred).
- Strong understanding of subcontract management and procurement principles, with proven negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
- Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems, procurement software, and contract management tools.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or related fields.
- Experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Dropbox, Google Suite, etc.
- ERP proficiency, with NetSuite experience highly preferred.
- UAE-based and available for immediate deployment.
- Excellent written and spoken communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational abilities.
- Proactive mindset, anticipating challenges and resolving issues independently.
