Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, trim, debone, mince, slice, and portion different meat products according to customer requests and approved procedures.
  • Marinate meat using authorised recipes, ingredients, quantities, and handling methods.
  • Confirm customer requirements before cutting or processing products.
  • Weigh prepared meat accurately and apply the correct product codes, prices, and labels.
  • Wrap and package meat securely to maintain hygiene, freshness, and product quality.
  • Arrange products in refrigerated display counters according to presentation and merchandising standards.
  • Replenish displays throughout the trading day while maintaining stock rotation.
  • Check product freshness, appearance, temperature, expiry dates, and packaging condition.
  • Remove expired, damaged, contaminated, or unsuitable products from sale immediately.
  • Record waste, damaged stock, and expired items accurately according to departmental procedures.
  • Assist customers promptly and provide clear information about cuts, preparation methods, quantities, and suitable product options.
  • Recommend relevant products and inform customers about current promotions and available offers.
  • Apply appropriate upselling techniques without compromising customer service.
  • Operate meat slicers, mincers, saws, knives, weighing scales, and other butchery equipment correctly.
  • Clean and sanitise knives, machines, cutting surfaces, counters, trays, and storage areas.
  • Follow food safety, personal hygiene, cross‑contamination prevention, and temperature‑control requirements.
  • Wear approved protective clothing and use safety equipment throughout assigned duties.
  • Report faulty equipment, unsafe conditions, stock issues, or product quality concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintain an organised and clean preparation area during and after each shift.
  • Support stock receiving, storage, stock counts, and section closing activities when required.
  • Follow company standard operating procedures and management instructions consistently.
Ideal Profile
  • Minimum one to two years of experience as a butcher, meat cutter, or fresh food preparation employee.
  • Practical knowledge of meat cutting, trimming, deboning, mincing, marination, weighing, and packaging.
  • Experience working in a supermarket, hypermarket, grocery, butcher shop, hotel, restaurant, or food production environment.
  • Basic English reading, writing, and interpretation skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.
