As we launch strategic growth initiatives such as SAQR 2.0—our next-generation deepwater port and free zone. This role offers the opportunity to directly shape the brand, voice, and commercial visibility of one of the UAE’s most ambitious port operators.
Role Overview
We are hiring a Business Development Manager – Project Cargo / EPC to drive growth at SAQR 2.0, focusing on EPC contractors, OEMs, and project cargo customers across energy, infrastructure, and heavy industry sectors.
The role is responsible for originating new business, developing commercial and business cases, and converting pipeline opportunities into executed contracts, while positioning SAQR 2.0 as a regional hub for heavy-lift, modular logistics, and EPC manufacturing.
The ideal candidate brings strong commercial acumen, a solid regional network, and proven experience in project cargo and long-term commercial negotiations, while supporting business development across RAK Ports.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Expansion
- Identify, prospect, and secure major project cargo customers, including EPC contractors, OEM manufacturers, energy developers, heavy-lift operators, project forwarders, and industrial clients.
- Develop and manage a robust pipeline linked to SAQR 2.0 berth, yard, and Free Zone land leasing opportunities.
- Drive growth across breakbulk, wind turbine component handling, O&G modules, refinery equipment, power plant modules, fabrication cargoes, steel structures, and oversize / heavy lift logistics.
- Support customers in pre-planning heavy lift and module logistics for major regional and international projects.
EPC Promotion & Marketing
- Promote SAQR 2.0 as a strategic EPC hub through targeted outreach, media messaging, digital marketing, and structured client campaigns.
- Drive presence at ADIPEC, Breakbulk ME, Wind Energy Conferences, EPC roadshows, and trade events representing SAQR 2.0 (Domestic & Abroad).
- Develop sector‑specific marketing collateral including capability briefs, case studies, technical white papers, competitive benchmarking, and infrastructure benefit summaries.
- Lead site visits, factory tours, and stakeholder delegations to demonstrate SAQR 2.0 capabilities and value proposition.
Commercial Strategy & Structuring
- Develop tailored commercial proposals and pricing structures for port handling, yard storage, fabrication support, and value‑added logistics services.
- Collaborate with legal, engineering, operations, and HSSE teams to ensure feasibility, safe execution, and cost competitiveness.
- Lead end‑to‑end commercial negotiations including MoUs, Pre‑Lease Agreements, Take‑or‑Pay structures, and long‑term handling/service contracts.
Business Case & Deal Modeling
- Build detailed business cases and scenario models in Excel, including:
- Land lease revenue modelling
- Port handling throughput assumptions
- EBIT / contribution margin calculation
- Volume and price sensitivity modelling
- IRR and NPV
- Prepare investment committee and board‑level presentations in PowerPoint, clearly articulating opportunity value, strategic rationale, risk considerations, and execution plan.
Relationship Management
- Maintain strong industry relationships and represent SAQR 2.0 at trade shows, EPC forums, and industry conferences.
- Work closely with key internal stakeholders across legal, engineering, operations, commercial, and finance to ensure alignment and project delivery readiness.
- Develop and maintain senior‑level relationships with EPC decision‑makers, engineering houses, and project logistics leaders.
- Act as the commercial interface between customer requirements and SAQR 2.0’s infrastructure development roadmap.
Candidate Profile
Education & Certifications
- Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Ports/Maritime, or related field preferred
Experience
- Minimum 8+ years in Ports, EPC logistics, heavy lift transport, industrial infrastructure, or large‑scale project cargo
- Established commercial relationships across UAE, GCC, India / Sub‑continent EPC and industrial project cargo markets
- Strong understanding of heavy lift planning, module logistics, engineered cargo handling, storage layouts, and quayside/yard operations
- Ability to structure deals, negotiate multi‑stakeholder agreements, and drive commercial outcomes
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; ability to build land lease and throughput business cases
- Strong presentation and storytelling capability in PowerPoint for investment/board‑level audiences
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically when needed
