We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager specialising in solar energy to spearhead our client's expansion efforts in the GCC.

Location: UAE with frequent travel within the GCC region

About the Role: As the Business Development Manager, you will be instrumental in driving the growth strategy in the GCC, focusing on utility-scale solar projects. This role demands a strategic thinker who excels in identifying opportunities and building enduring relationships with key industry players, including Utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, and governmental entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development Strategy: Craft and implement strategic plans to enhance business growth, focusing on utility-scale solar projects. Proactively identify market opportunities and nurture relationships with potential clients and industry partners.
  • Sales and Lead Generation: Lead the entire sales process, from lead generation to negotiating contracts and closing deals. Work closely with internal teams to prepare competitive proposals and presentations that meet client needs.
  • Market Analysis and Forecasting: Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes. Conduct comprehensive market analysis and feasibility studies to evaluate project viability.
  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including EPC contractors, suppliers, and governmental entities. Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding and meeting client requirements with innovative solutions.
  • Project Management Support: Offer technical guidance and support project teams throughout the development, execution, and commissioning phases of solar projects.
  • Networking and Industry Engagement: Actively represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows. Explore partnership opportunities and strategic alliances to bolster market presence.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Regularly produce reports and presentations detailing business development activities, sales outcomes, and project progress for senior management. Conduct thorough post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in sales and business development within the solar energy sector, focusing on utility-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated success in deal closure and delivering utility projects on schedule and budget.
  • Extensive knowledge of solar project development, including key technologies like inverters and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Strong network within the solar energy industry in the GCC, encompassing EPC contractors, suppliers, and governmental entities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; adept at explaining complex technical details to varied audiences.
  • Strategic, results-driven mindset with a passion for renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
