Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Business Analyst with 3+ years of experience in the IT industry to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. The candidate will be responsible for understanding business requirements, analyzing processes, translating requirements into functional and technical specifications, and working closely with development and QA teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies, Jira, requirement gathering, user stories, functional specifications, process mapping, and stakeholder management, along with a good understanding of programming languages, databases, APIs, web technologies, and software development life cycles.

1. Business & Requirement Analysis

Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders. Conduct requirement-gathering sessions, workshops, interviews, and discussions with business users. Understand business processes, identify gaps, and recommend technology-driven solutions. Translate business requirements into clear and actionable functional requirements. Identify dependencies, assumptions, constraints, risks, and potential impacts of proposed solutions. Analyze existing systems and processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, clear, and testable.

2. Agile & Scrum Responsibilities

Work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, QA Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders in an Agile environment. Participate in Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives. Create and maintain product backlog items, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Break down complex business requirements into smaller, manageable user stories. Support the Product Owner in prioritizing and maintaining the product backlog. Clarify requirements and resolve functional queries raised by development and QA teams during sprints. Ensure stories meet the Definition of Ready and Definition of Done where applicable. Participate in release planning and support successful delivery of sprint/release objectives.

3. Jira & Requirement Management

Create, manage, and track Epics, User Stories, Tasks, Bugs, and Sub-tasks in Jira. Maintain Jira backlog and ensure requirements are properly linked and traceable. Monitor story status, dependencies, blockers, and delivery progress. Work with technical teams to ensure Jira tickets contain sufficient functional and acceptance criteria. Maintain requirement traceability from business requirements through development and testing. Generate and review Jira reports and dashboards to track project progress.

4. User Stories & Functional Documentation

Prepare detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Documents (FRD), User Stories, Use Cases, Process Flow Diagrams, and Acceptance Criteria. Write user stories using the appropriate Agile format. Define positive, negative, and edge-case scenarios for requirements. Develop functional specifications for new features and enhancements. Maintain documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure requirements remain aligned with business objectives and agreed scope.

5. Technical Understanding

The candidate should have a good working knowledge of software development concepts and technologies, including:

• Understanding of SDLC and STLC.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of programming languages such as:Java Python Java Script / Type Script C# / . NETSQL
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS, and API integrations.
• Understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Java Script, and web/application architecture.
• Working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, Postgre SQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
• Ability to write and understand basic SQL queries for data validation and analysis.
• Understanding of frontend, backend, database, and API layers.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of microservices, application integrations, authentication, and system interfaces is preferred.
• Ability to understand technical discussions and communicate effectively with development teams.

6. Data Analysis & Validation

Analyze business and system data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities. Validate data and business rules using SQL and other analytical tools. Work with technical teams to investigate data discrepancies. Define data requirements, validation rules, and business logic. Support data mapping and integration requirements where applicable.

7. Testing & Quality Assurance

Collaborate with QA teams to ensure requirements are testable. Review test scenarios and test cases against business requirements. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Coordinate with business users during UAT and help resolve functional issues. Validate developed functionality against acceptance criteria. Assist in defect triaging, prioritization, and resolution. Perform functional validation where required.

8. Stakeholder Management

Act as a key communication bridge between business and technical teams. Communicate complex technical concepts in a simple and understandable manner to business stakeholders. Conduct product demonstrations and requirement walkthroughs. Manage stakeholder expectations regarding requirements, scope, dependencies, and timelines. Resolve requirement conflicts and obtain necessary approvals. Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

9. Process Improvement

Analyze existing business workflows and identify inefficiencies. Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities. Prepare As-Is and To-Be process flows. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce manual processes, and enhance customer experience. Participate in digital transformation and system modernization initiatives.

10. Project & Release Support

Work with Project Managers/Product Owners to support project planning and delivery. Track requirement-related risks, issues, and dependencies. Support impact analysis for change requests. Evaluate changes and enhancements based on business value and technical feasibility. Assist with release planning, production readiness, and post-release validation. Support production teams in understanding functional requirements and resolving business-related issues.
