The Bridge Inspector - Structural position offers an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic professionals interested in ensuring the safety and integrity of bridge structures. This role requires a focused and analytical mindset, as you will be responsible for evaluating the condition of various bridge components and ensuring that they meet regulatory standards. The position demands strong technical skills and a keen eye for detail to identify potential issues that could affect the structural integrity of bridges. You will work closely with engineers, maintenance teams, and local authorities to develop comprehensive reports and recommendations for repairs or improvements. This role is critical in maintaining public safety and ensuring bridges' longevity and functionality.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed inspections of bridges to assess their structural integrity thoroughly.
  • Document findings from inspections, including photographs and detailed description of conditions.
  • Evaluate bridge components such as foundations, decks, beams, and joints for signs of damage.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and recommend maintenance or remedial actions.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to develop maintenance and repair plans for bridge structures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards in inspections.
  • Utilize advanced inspection technologies, including drones, to assess hard-to-reach areas.
  • Communicate inspection findings clearly to relevant stakeholders and project managers.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspection activities and follow up on required repairs.
  • Participate in training programs to remain up-to-date with industry standards and technologies.
  • Collaborate with other inspectors and engineers to share insights and improve inspection processes.
  • Assist in emergency inspections following severe weather or natural disasters to assess damage.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in structural inspection or bridge engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, including drones and software.
  • Strong understanding of bridge design standards and safety regulations is essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify structural deficiencies.
  • Strong communication skills for writing reports and explaining findings to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Physical ability to access various parts of bridge structures during inspections.
  • Valid driver s license and ability to travel to multiple locations as needed.
  • Certification as a Bridge Safety Inspector (BSP) is highly desirable but not necessary.
