Roles and Responsibilities

Job Description

  • Works under direct supervision performing moderately complex technical work utilizing instructions, drawings, sketches, and results from computer systems and schematics.
  • May be involved in training and supervising technical personnel.
  • May perform some data entry.
Qualifications
  • Minimum diploma holders; candidates with engineering degrees will be given preference.
  • Minimum three years of experience.
  • 3D Modeling
  • Creating BIM Models: Using BIM software (such as Revit, ArchiCAD, or Bentley Systems) to create detailed 3D models of buildings, including architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) elements.
  • Integrating Systems: Developing models that integrate all disciplines (architecture, engineering, construction) into one cohesive design, ensuring coordination and minimizing clashes or conflicts.
  • Modeling from Drawings: Translating 2D sketches, blueprints, and CAD drawings into accurate 3D models that represent the structure or building system.
  • Collaboration and Coordination
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Working with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the model reflects accurate design intent and integrates the work of all disciplines (e.g., structural, MEP).
  • Clash Detection: Using software tools to identify and resolve clashes between different design elements, such as plumbing systems conflicting with structural beams or electrical systems.
  • Collaboration Tools: Coordinating the BIM model with cloud-based platforms like Autodesk BIM 360 or Procore for real-time updates and communication among project teams.
  • Documentation and Drawing Generation
  • Generating Construction Drawings: Producing detailed construction documentation from the BIM model, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and schedules. These documents are used for the actual construction phase of the project.
  • Creating Reports: Generating quantities and cost estimates from the BIM model to assist in project cost planning and management.
  • Model Updates: Updating and maintaining the model throughout the project lifecycle to reflect changes in design, site conditions, or material specifications.
  • Quality Control and Accuracy
  • Ensuring Accuracy: Making sure all models are precise, comply with design specifications, and adhere to standards such as ISO 19650 or other project-specific requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Regularly checking the model for errors, inconsistencies, and potential problems to maintain high-quality standards throughout the project.
  • Version Control: Keeping track of different versions and revisions of the model to ensure that the latest version is always available for the team.
Desired Candidate Profile
  1. Proficiency in BIM Software: Expertise in software like Revit, Navisworks, ArchiCAD, Tekla Structures, Bentley Systems, and AutoCAD is crucial.
  2. Technical Drawing Skills: Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and translate them into 3D models.
  3. Knowledge of Building Systems: Understanding of construction, architectural design, structural systems, and MEP systems to create accurate models.
  4. Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure that the model is precise, compliant with standards, and free of errors.
  5. Collaboration Skills: Effective communication and collaboration with other project team members, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure accurate and coordinated models.
  6. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues in the model, such as clashes or design inconsistencies.
  7. Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, especially on large or complex projects.
  8. Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with relevant BIM standards and guidelines such as ISO 19650, and local or regional building codes.
  9. Clash Detection and Coordination: Experience using BIM tools like Navisworks for clash detection and conflict resolution.
  10. Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical information verbally and in writing with team members.
