Overview
The BIM Manager's role is to understand and communicate how BIM will affect project workflows, deliverables, and project management throughout KZC. The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement on all related BIM projects, files, and models, for both our Commercial and Industrial groups. This will include the development of a work plan/roadmap for the development, implementation, and quality assurance checks needed for full BIM integration with KZC projects. Also involved in reviewing and compiling documentation for the design of internal spaces, including demolition, structural alterations if needed, furnishings, fixtures and fittings, lighting, and general design documents.
The BIM Manager prepares and executes all documentation and drawings overseeing these aspects of the project from beginning to end. Review BEP and provide comments enhancing the process. Ensures successful project completion of BIM deliverables that are timely and accurate and drive operational efficiency. Collaborate and coordinate with other consultants BIM requirements.
Must successfully deliver projects from the Concept to the Completion stage. Comprehensive experience in Hospitality projects. Experienced in implementing interiors and working details from LOD 100 LOD 400.
Responsibilities
The BIM Manager will plan and organize the design drawings for the project's interiors. Projects may include:
- hospitality (hotels and F&B)
- private residences and residential developments
- office spaces
- retail locations, e.g. malls, shops, cafes, forecourts
- leisure spaces, e.g. cinema, recreation complexes
The BIM Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing BIM standards, workflows, and best practices and ensures the company is efficient and effective in its BIM delivery of projects.Reports to DPs for any Revit-related matters and is the go between the outsourcing or internal team.Act as the intermediary between other BIM managers/coordinators, internal or external, designers, clients, and architects so that projects remain efficient and effective.Work closely with the BIM team, responsible for producing project information models, submissions, etc.Provide end-user training, support, and leadership.Support each project team by (1) managing and creating content library files and templates, (2) creating and enforcing standards, and (3) evaluating project models.Support project start-up coordination, helping teams develop strategies for effectively delivering quality documents and setting up each project, ensuring that each one is set up correctly.Upskilling other BIM team members in specific software/programs/systems/ standards etc. Provide fundamental and intermediate training to KZC staff on all BIM software through a training program incorporating large groups, project teams, and individualized training methods.Ensures that BIM execution plans are produced and maintained for each project.Auditing the project team and flagging non-compliances.Working with the BD team to ensure compliance with the BIM/REVIT RFP requirements and add any inclusions/exclusions related to the ID scope.Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual BIM reports/presentations for management overview.Assess: Evaluate the firm's current workflow, strategies, budgets, projects, staffing, etc. for any upcoming BIM projects part of BD or part of projects.Plan: Create an implementation plan (identify team members, what the project is, what the goals are, etc.).Prepare and lead deployment strategies for the BIM implementation effort and resource schedules and monitor the performance of internal/external BIM teams. Includes preparing weekly schedules/workflow, BIM/Revit forecasting for existing and upcoming projects minimum of up to 6 months, and reviewing them for compliance.Solve: Execute the plan, install the software, get templates created, get training, etc.Prepare, review, and endorse any required external services (including invoicing); prepare contracts for any parties involved in BIM, including renewal terms; monitor their performance and provide monthly reports.Provide technical orientation/onboarding induction to new hires regarding the BIM process/standards/BIM tools and workflows.Review and assess BIM staff performance and prepare review letters, including probationary reviews of the BIM team.Review the existing BIM standard to prepare amendments as necessary and prepare the SOP for workflow.Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM, bringing back best practices and disseminating the information to appropriate teams.Conduct continuing education on BIM processes and its new technologies.Follow thru the recruitment process for any BIM hirings and conduct interviews as necessary.Completes supply chain assessments.Drives the implementation of digital information plans and strategies and reports these to the management.Leads meetings to identify project tasks and resolve issues.Assists in raising the organization's BIM profile for future Business development initiatives.Manages the 3D BIM models and reviews model quality and technical content, including clash detection and compliance with the BIM execution plan.Surveying buildings and attending sites to ensure all details and existing conditions are captured.Works closely with quantity surveyors to establish costs and work schedules on projects as required.Works with architects and other design professionals to determine the best-detailed solutions working with manufacturers and contractors to determine the most appropriate details for the project.Developing initial MIDP list for the projects with coordination with the technical coordinator both internally and externally with sub-consultants.Supervise Modelling activities and Creation of BIM model components by the BIM modelers.Oversee responses to client reviews and queries about submitted models and packages.Oversee the document controller responsible for managing BIM package issuances.Sharing Revit knowledge and skills to understand the software and program with the team.
