Job summary

First Orion is seeking a Mid‑Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, deploy, and own Java 21 microservices. You will craft RESTful services for call treatment orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing in a cloud‑agnostic, multi‑tenant environment.

This is an individual contributor role focused on backend architecture, security, observability, and scalable deployment across public clouds and on‑premises.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Java development (Java 11+; Java 17/21 preferred).
• Hands-on Spring Boot 3.x experience including Web, Data JPA, Security.
• Experience designing REST APIs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Git version control experience; Bitbucket helpful.
• Basic Docker and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Understanding of microservice architectures and modern backend design.
• Experience delivering production services.
• Strong problem-solving and communication; distributed collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, enhance, and own Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x microservices.
• Develop REST APIs and services supporting call treatment orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing.
• Apply hexagonal architecture to isolate business logic from infrastructure through ports and adapters.
• Build event-driven services using Apache Kafka for event streaming and asynchronous processing.
• Work with PostgreSQL, Redis, and MinIO or other S3-compatible object storage.
• Design cloud-agnostic, multi-tenant services for deployment across public cloud and on-premises environments.
• Containerize and deploy services using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement secure integrations using modern identity, access management, secrets management, and transport-security practices.
• Build observable services using modern monitoring, structured logging, dashboards, and distributed tracing tools.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, technical design decisions, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to deliver reliable, maintainable, carrier-grade solutions.
