Job summary

A leading company in the UAE is seeking an AVP – Product Control to support the Head of Product Control. The role involves P&L reporting, team management, and process improvements within the Global Markets Product Control business. Candidates should have significant banking experience and relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years’ experience in an international Global Markets banking environment.
  • Significant exposure to financial products including FX, Rates, Equities, Credit, and Commodities.
  • Strong understanding of current IFRS and IAS, including hedge accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Product Control with strategic initiatives and control issues.
  • Conduct Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting and attribution.
  • Reconcile and substantiate P&L and Balance Sheet between the General Ledger and Murex.

Job description

Job Title: AVP – Product Control

Duration: 12 months extendable (Long Term with Marc Ellis Payroll)

Location: Abu Dhabi

Summary:

The successful candidate will assist the Head of Product Control and Senior Product Controllers with strategic initiatives and control issues, contributing to process improvements within the function.

Responsibilities include Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting and attribution, handling ad hoc management reporting queries, reconciling and substantiating P&L and Balance Sheet between the General Ledger (OGL) and Murex, conducting Independent Price Verification, hedge monitoring, and effective testing. The role focuses on supporting the Global Markets Product Control business daily, including P&L reporting, general ledger reconciliations, and hedge effectiveness testing.

Job Brief:
  • Qualified accountant or equivalent postgraduate qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, CIMA, or Masters in relevant field)
  • 5-7 years’ experience in an international Global Markets banking environment
  • Significant exposure to financial products including FX, Rates, Equities, Credit, and Commodities
  • Strong understanding of current IFRS and IAS, including hedge accounting
  • Well-developed team management skills and experience managing a small team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively at various organizational levels and adopt a hands-on approach to problem-solving when needed
