Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and analytical Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Fraud Data Analytics to join our team in Dubai, UAE. In this role, you will lead our fraud detection and prevention efforts using advanced data analytics techniques.

Job Purpose

The role involves overseeing fraud risk assessment by developing, implementing, and maintaining fraud detection systems and analytics processes. You will collaborate with IT, compliance, risk management, and operations to ensure system integrity and security. Your responsibilities include analyzing large datasets to identify fraudulent behavior and designing automated systems for real-time monitoring, staying updated on fraud trends and technologies to enhance prevention strategies. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills, integrity, and the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

What you will do
Strategic Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement fraud prevention strategies using advanced analytics, machine learning, and real-time monitoring systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, working closely with legal and compliance teams.
  • Lead a team of fraud analysts and collaborate with departments such as IT, legal, and customer service. Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders.
Operational Responsibilities
Reporting & Data Insights
  • Design and maintain dashboards and reports on fraud losses, transaction monitoring, and key risk indicators using SAS Visual Analytics, Power BI, and SAP Business Objects.
  • Analyze large datasets from banking systems to generate insights for fraud prevention and risk assessment.
  • Support regulatory and internal reporting, ensuring compliance with standards.
Fraud Rules & Model Management
  • Develop and optimize fraud detection rules within SAS Fraud Management.
  • Monitor rule performance, conduct root cause analysis, and fine-tune rules.
  • Collaborate on fraud rules strategy and support deployment of machine learning models.
  • Document rule logic, maintain version control, and manage workflows for rules deployment.
Analytics & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Lead advanced analytics initiatives with the Analytics Department.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify analytics-driven fraud mitigation opportunities.
  • Present findings to senior management and influence strategic decisions.
  • Share intelligence with Cyber Security and AML teams.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Review and enhance counter-fraud strategies and policies.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and data governance standards.
  • Assist in implementing the Anti-Fraud Framework and related policies.
Qualifications

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Banking, or related field.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in fraud analytics or risk management in banking or financial services.
  • Experience with rules deployment on fraud management systems (e.g., SAS Fraud Management, FICO Falcon).
  • Expertise in data analysis, statistical modeling, and fraud detection technologies.
  • Understanding of banking products, digital channels, and fraud risks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of programming and databases (SAS, SQL, Python, R).
  • Certifications like CFE are highly desirable.
