The AV and Production Technician is responsible for ensuring that technical systems supporting teaching, performances, events, and school communications remain reliable, safe, and ready for use. The position combines day-to-day AV support with responsibility for complex productions involving sound, theatrical lighting, projection, recording, livestreaming, multiple performance spaces, and live performers. The role works closely with Performing Arts, Music, Drama, Operations, Marketing, teaching staff, students, and external providers. Candidates should hold a Diploma, Degree, or professional qualification in Audio Visual Technology, Sound Engineering, Technical Theatre, Event Production, Media Technology, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional industry experience may also be considered. Applicants should have approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience in AV operations, technical theatre, live events, production, performing arts support, or a comparable technical environment. Strong hands‑on experience with professional sound, theatrical lighting, projection, recording, and audio‑visual equipment is essential. Candidates should be confident programming and operating stage lighting systems and should understand live sound mixing, microphone deployment, signal routing, and audio system operation. Experience supporting concerts, theatrical productions, musical performances, multiple performers, musicians, or live orchestras is particularly valuable. Strong troubleshooting ability is important because the role requires maintaining technical continuity during both routine school activity and live productions. Previous experience within a school, theatre, performing arts venue, concert environment, or professional events operation is desirable. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong organisation, calm decision‑making, professional communication, and the ability to work independently during technically demanding situations. Appointment is subject to appropriate safeguarding, background, reference, and police clearance requirements.

The position provides significant technical ownership rather than purely reactive support, including responsibility for live sound, theatrical lighting, production planning, infrastructure maintenance, and event delivery. For an AV professional interested in developing deeper experience across technical theatre, live production, education technology, and multimedia, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi provides a varied operating environment where technical quality has a visible impact on school life and major events.
