  • Programme and operate lighting systems for theatre productions, dance performances, concerts, musical theatre, and other live events.
  • Mix and operate live sound for performances involving speech, music, microphones, ensembles, and orchestras.
  • Design appropriate technical setups according to production requirements, venue limitations, performer needs, and audience configuration.
  • Support large-scale school productions involving multiple performers, musicians, technical cues, and performance areas.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Performing Arts, Music, and Drama teams to create detailed technical production plans.
  • Manage sound checks, lighting preparation, technical rehearsals, performance runs, and show changeovers.
  • Maintain theatres, auditoriums, performance spaces, lighting fixtures, sound equipment, cabling, control systems, and related production assets.
  • Support stage management requirements where technical coordination is needed during rehearsals and performances.
  • Provide recording and multimedia support for concerts, productions, presentations, and school activities.

  • Carry out routine inspections of AV and production equipment and report defects requiring repair or replacement.
  • Operate all technical systems in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain safe working practices in theatres, auditoriums, stages, event venues, and technical areas.
  • Ensure cables, stands, lighting equipment, electrical connections, and temporary installations are secured appropriately.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, equipment guides, operating instructions, and standard procedures.
  • Support wider Operations and Performing Arts requirements when technical expertise is needed.
  • Participate in evening, weekend, or after-hours events when operationally required.
  • Complete additional technical duties reasonably aligned with the scope of the position.
Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a Diploma, Degree, or professional qualification in Audio Visual Technology, Sound Engineering, Technical Theatre, Event Production, Media Technology, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional industry experience may also be considered. Applicants should have approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience in AV operations, technical theatre, live events, production, performing arts support, or a comparable technical environment. Strong hands‑on experience with professional sound, theatrical lighting, projection, recording, and audio‑visual equipment is essential. Candidates should be confident programming and operating stage lighting systems and should understand live sound mixing, microphone deployment, signal routing, and audio system operation. Experience supporting concerts, theatrical productions, musical performances, multiple performers, musicians, or live orchestras is particularly valuable.
