Automotive Carbon Fiber Technician

As a Carbon Fiber Technician specializing in automotive applications, you will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and repair of carbon fiber components within the automotive industry.

Your role involves working closely with design engineers to ensure the highest quality standards are met. Attention to detail, precision craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of carbon fiber materials and processes are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Utilize various techniques such as layup, vacuum bagging, resin infusion, and autoclave curing to fabricate carbon fiber components according to engineering specifications and production requirements.
2. Prepare molds for component fabrication, ensuring cleanliness, proper release agent application, and structural integrity.
3. Conduct thorough inspections of finished components to verify dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and structural integrity. Identify and rectify any defects or imperfections promptly.
4. Perform repairs and refurbishments on damaged carbon fiber components, employing appropriate techniques to restore structural integrity and aesthetic appearance.
5. Manage inventory of carbon fiber materials, resins, and consumables. Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials following safety regulations.
6. Collaborate with design engineers to troubleshoot issues, optimize manufacturing processes, and implement design improvements.
7. Maintain detailed records of fabrication processes, material usage, quality inspections, and repair activities. Generate reports as required for quality assurance and regulatory compliance purposes.
8. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Stay informed about industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to carbon fiber manufacturing.

Qualifications:

1. Proficient in carbon fiber fabrication techniques such as layup, vacuum bagging, resin infusion, and autoclave curing. Experience with composite materials and processes in an automotive or aerospace setting is highly desirable.
2. Ability to work with precision and accuracy to meet tight tolerances and quality standards. A keen eye for detail to identify and address any defects or imperfections in finished components.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues encountered during fabrication, repair, or installation of carbon fiber components.
