Job summary

Apparel Group - UAE in the United Arab Emirates is hiring an experienced Automation Engineer to design, implement and optimize automated warehouse systems, including conveyors, sorters, AS/RS, PLCs and SCADA interfaces.

You will lead maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades, collaborate with OEMs, produce technical docs and validation protocols, and drive safety compliance while improving uptime and throughput.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of experience in warehouse or industrial automation engineering.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial control systems.
• Experience with automated conveyor systems, sortation systems, and warehouse management integrations.
• Exposure to CMMS and Industry 4.0 concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and deployment of automated systems including conveyors, sorters, AS/RS, PLCs, and SCADA interfaces.
• Evaluate automation performance and recommend enhancements to maximize uptime and throughput.
• Analyze system data to optimize process flows and improve warehouse operations.
• Lead advanced troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and software issues in automation equipment.
• Collaborate with technicians to implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
• Liaise with OEMs and service providers for major repairs or component replacements.
• Assist in planning, testing, and commissioning of new automation installations or expansions.
• Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables and validation protocols.
• Provide engineering support during system upgrades or infrastructure modifications.
• Ensure automation systems operate in compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date risk assessments and mitigation plans for automated zones.
• Maintain logs of system performance, issue resolutions, and engineering modifications.
• Develop technical manuals, training content, and process documentation.
• Present reports on automation KPIs, downtimes, and system efficiency to management.

Project Implementation & Support

• Assist in the planning, testing, and commissioning of new automation installations or expansions.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all automation systems operate in compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate logs of system performance, issue resolutions, and engineering modifications.

Desired Experience:

• 4-6 years of experience in warehouse or industrial automation engineering, preferably within a retail distribution environment.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial control systems.
• Experience with automated conveyor systems, sortation systems, and warehouse management integrations.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
• Exposure to Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Industry 4.0 concepts is a plus.
