The Automation Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the successful commissioning of automation and control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants. This includes reviewing the vendor drawings/documents, conducting the FAT & SAT, reviewing HMI/SCADA/DCS graphics in accordance with P&ID and control philosophy, the planning, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of all control systems ensuring they meet project specifications and operational requirements. Responsibilities include:
- Analyze the proposed automation/control systems alignment with the project specifications.
- Verify the vendors drawings adhere to the project requirements.
- Generate control philosophy, Cause & Effect matrix, I/O list, and Alarm List with respect to P&ID.
- Conduct FAT for the automation control panels.
- Review the HMI/SCADA/DCS screens in alignment with P&ID.
- Develop and execute commissioning plans for PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation, and control panels.
- Conduct pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and performance testing of all automation components.
- Conduct SAT for the automation control panels.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, instrumentation, and communication networks.
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of all systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation including test procedures, reports, and as-built drawings.
- Provide training to operators on the operation and maintenance of the control systems.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry best practices in automation and control systems.
- Can assist the commissioning team across various disciplines including electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and process commissioning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics & Communication/Instrumentation & Control/Automation Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in commissioning automation systems for water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Strong understanding of PLC/SCADA/DCS systems, instrumentation, and control panel design.
- Experience with Controllers, drives like soft starter, VFD, etc.
- Experience with various communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and, if required, to other countries.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specific PLC/SCADA/DCS platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Yokogawa, etc.
- Certification in automation or control systems.
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
