JOB SUMMARY:
This is a physician position and is responsible for applying medical knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses for
patients within the Integrated Surgical Institute - Otolaryngology (ENT) specialty at CCAD. This position treats patients directly and/or may make
referrals to different members of the health care professional team at CCAD. This position is responsible for diagnosing and treating hearing and
balance-related disorders for patients of all ages.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
− Evaluates patients referred by a physician for diagnoses and treatment of hearing problems, including balance function and disorders
− Treats most hearing impairments through modern hearing technology, including programmable and digital hearing aids and other hearing assistive technology systems
− Programs cochlear implants and serves on multidisciplinary cochlear implant teams
− Recommends hearing protection in industrial, military, travel, music and other settings
− Provides consultation and treatment services to enable individuals to communicate effectively
− Monitors and provides care to patients at CCAD within the Otolaryngology (ENT) specialty
− Prescribes or administers medication, therapy and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury
− Analyzes records, reports and test results to diagnose patient's medical condition
− Interacts with patient to gather additional history and information about medical condition
− Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patient
− Provides specific treatments and/or performs operations to treat patient medical conditions
− Evaluates patient and records applicable notes about patient's condition for purposes of serving as a record of treatment and / or a possible referral to another member of the health care professional team
− Liaisons with other medical and non-medical staff at CCAD to ensure quality patient treatment
− Supplies and provides care in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner
− Takes part in administrative functions that ensure the continued operations of the clinical environment, such as committees, task forces and performance improvement measures. Follows ethical and regulatory guidelines
− Provide hospital on-call inpatient coverage as deemed necessary
− Adheres to individual approved clinical privileges, as well as to all policies and procedures of the Physician Staff
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
− Two (2) years' experience post qualification in the field of Audiology Sciences in a hospital, clinic or rehabilitation setting
− Demonstrated expertise in specialty practice area
− Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills with patients, staff and other physicians
− Should meet the Maintenance of Certification requirements (where applicable)
− Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff
− Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data at all times
− Ability to speak and write in English is required
− Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
− Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Audiology
− Master Degree in Speech and Hearing, or Speech Language Pathology, Speech Sciences or Communications or Audiology Disorders/Sciences is preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical physical demands include a moderate degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer and mobility sufficient to attend meetings in clinical departments throughout CCAD.
