Audiologist for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

JOB SUMMARY:

This is a physician position and is responsible for applying medical knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses for patients within the Integrated Surgical Institute - Otolaryngology (ENT) specialty at CCAD. This position treats patients directly and/or may make referrals to different members of the health care professional team at CCAD. This position is responsible for diagnosing and treating hearing and balance-related disorders for patients of all ages.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Evaluates patients referred by a physician for diagnoses and treatment of hearing problems, including balance function and disorders.
  2. Treats most hearing impairments through modern hearing technology, including programmable and digital hearing aids and other hearing assistive technology systems.
  3. Programs cochlear implants and serves on multidisciplinary cochlear implant teams.
  4. Recommends hearing protection in industrial, military, travel, music and other settings.
  5. Provides consultation and treatment services to enable individuals to communicate effectively.
  6. Monitors and provides care to patients at CCAD within the Otolaryngology (ENT) specialty.
  7. Prescribes or administers medication, therapy and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury.
  8. Analyzes records, reports and test results to diagnose patients' medical conditions.
  9. Interacts with patients to gather additional history and information about medical conditions.
  10. Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  11. Provides specific treatments and/or performs operations to treat patients' medical conditions.
  12. Evaluates patients and records applicable notes about patients' conditions for purposes of serving as a record of treatment and/or a possible referral to another member of the health care professional team.
  13. Liaisons with other medical and non-medical staff at CCAD to ensure quality patient treatment.
  14. Supplies and provides care in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.
  15. Takes part in administrative functions that ensure the continued operations of the clinical environment, such as committees, task forces and performance improvement measures. Follows ethical and regulatory guidelines.
  16. Provides hospital on-call inpatient coverage as deemed necessary.
  17. Adheres to individual approved clinical privileges, as well as to all policies and procedures of the Physician Staff.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Two (2) years experience post qualification in the field of Audiology Sciences in a hospital, clinic or rehabilitation setting.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in specialty practice area.
  3. Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills with patients, staff and other physicians.
  4. Should meet the Maintenance of Certification requirements (where applicable).
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data at all times.
  7. Ability to speak and write in English is required.
  8. Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Audiology.
  2. Master Degree in Speech and Hearing, or Speech Language Pathology, Speech Sciences or Communications or Audiology Disorders/Sciences is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Typical physical demands include a moderate degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer and mobility sufficient to attend meetings in clinical departments throughout CCAD.
