Job description

Responsible for managing all aspects of a portfolio of jobs as Project Manager in conjunction with a project director or Associate Director on major / complex projects, potentially taking on the role of Project Engineer.

Core responsibilities include:

Such projects could be multi-disciplinary but will generally be single discipline.

Be able to motivate and lead professional teams to deliver client solutions.

Be commercially astute.

Be experienced and competent at:

  • Presenting to clients
  • Preparing client / project proposals for agreement with a Director
  • Negotiating fee proposals and requesting additional fees where possible
  • Constructing project teams from internal and external resources
  • Procuring project resources
  • Planning projects
  • Liaising with client / design team / contractor / authorities
  • Ensuring QA policy, HSE and CDM requirements are satisfied
  • Representing the practice on projects under their control

Undertake six monthly performance reviews for their team

Ability to manage a team of 12 / 15

Contribute to the strategic direction of the business and play a key role in the development of company procedures and task groups.

Engineering Function:

  • Agree on design philosophy / design fundamentals
  • Review and comment on deliverables produced by the team regularly
  • Demonstrate all-round technical competence
  • Have good knowledge of concept design, buildability, detailed design, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk assessment, and claim assessment
  • Prepare drawings, calculations & models
  • Review documents prepared by subordinates
  • Have detailed knowledge of analytical concepts
  • Have detailed knowledge of delivery in CAD standards and 3D working
