Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to ensure the accurate preparation of the Bank’s financial statements in accordance with IFRS and generally accepted accounting principles. The Finance Associate supports the financial closing process, maintains General Ledger controls across asset classes, and contributes to budgeting, forecasting, and monthly MIS reporting. By collaborating with auditors, consultants, and participating in system updates implementations and updates, the role ensures regulatory compliance and delivers critical financial insights to support informed decision-making by senior management.
Key Accountabilities:
Financial Accounting and General Ledger Management
- Ensure accurate maintenance of the Bank’s books of accounts in compliance with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Maintain General Ledger integrity by ensuring appropriate controls and reconciliations are consistently applied.
- Prepare and analyze the Daily Balance Sheet to monitor financial position and ensure accuracy.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and manage the financial statement closing process.
MIS and Financial Reporting
- Support the preparation of monthly management results and comprehensive MIS packs for review by the Executive Committee.
- Assist in financial reporting by segmenting results by business line to support internal performance tracking and decision-making.
Regulatory Reporting
- Support the Regulatory Reporting team in preparing and submitting accurate and timely statutory returns to the UAE Central Bank.
- Assist in preparing detailed quarterly submissions to the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA), including all required supporting documentation and notes.
System Migration and Implementation
- Define and implement a new General Ledger structure in the ERP system to accommodate all products, clients, and legal entities.
- Document and configure the system for accurate accounting treatment of all product-related transactions (e.g., fees, interest, accruals).
- Assist in managing the end-to-end financial data migration from the legacy system to the new ERP platform, ensuring data integrity and continuity.
Other Responsibilities
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely responses and complete documentation for audit requirements.
- Participate in special finance-related projects and ad hoc tasks as assigned by management.
Experience & Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Professional certifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or CMA are preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting within banking or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial data migration is a plus.
- Familiarity with UAE regulatory reporting requirements (Central Bank, ESCA) preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Oracle, Finacle).
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work under deadlines.
