Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an Associate Director - Fire & Life Safety in Dubai to lead and grow the specialist team. The role focuses on delivering complex Fire and Life Safety strategies across major infrastructure and buildings, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.

The candidate will lead design efforts, conduct on-site inspections, coordinate with authorities, and mentor junior staff while managing multiple projects within QMS policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in fire & life safety with leadership experience.
• Extensive knowledge of regional and international codes (SBC/UAE Fire Code, NFPA, IBC, BS/EN).
• Proven track record delivering large-scale GCC projects.
• Professional certifications (CFPS, CEng, PE) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Fire & Life Safety team on multidisciplinary projects.
• Ensure design compliance with building codes and standards; develop performance-based designs.
• Conduct onsite inspections to verify fire strategy adherence during construction.
• Coordinate with authorities and present projects for approvals.
• Review submittals and shop drawings to communicate fire protection requirements.
• Mentor junior staff and foster team growth.
• Review BIM designs to ensure integration of fire safety principles.
• Lead design groups to align fire safety with other disciplines.
