Role Context

The Associate Director will provide senior technical and strategic leadership for ELV engineering within AECOM 's Buildings Design practice. The position is responsible for ensuring that complex building systems are technically robust, commercially appropriate, digitally coordinated, and delivered in line with client expectations. Leading a multidisciplinary engineering team and coordinating wider regional resources, the role will shape project delivery from early design strategy through detailed engineering and technical review. It also carries responsibility for strengthening engineering standards, improving digital workflows, supporting bids, and developing high-performing technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of ELV and associated building services design across major vertical development projects.
• Establish technical strategies, delivery plans, resource requirements, and engineering priorities for assigned projects.
• Ensure project scope, programme, budget, quality, and client expectations remain aligned throughout design delivery.
• Provide senior technical oversight for complex electrical and Extra Low Voltage systems.
• Direct engineering analysis, technical reviews, design development, and coordinated documentation.
• Review ELV design solutions for performance, safety, compliance, constructability, and maintainability.
• Ensure engineering outputs comply with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead multidisciplinary design coordination with architectural, structural, MEP, digital, and specialist teams.
• Identify system interfaces early and drive resolution of technical conflicts before issue of coordinated design packages.
• Manage and mentor an engineering team of approximately nine professionals.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a bachelor 's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a directly related discipline and have at least 15 years of professional experience within electrical and ELV engineering. A minimum of five years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering ELV design for vertical building projects is required. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to manage complex engineering assignments while maintaining design quality, commercial awareness, and programme control.
