Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer (Data Centres) to lead the design and delivery of mission-critical data centre projects. This role involves overseeing client engagement and project strategy while ensuring solutions meet global standards for resilience and sustainability.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, over 12 years of relevant experience, and a proven track record in GCC markets.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in mission‑critical/data centre design, delivery, or advisory.
• Strong understanding of Tier standards, NFPA, ASHRAE, and Uptime Institute guidelines.
• Proven experience in GCC markets (UAE and/or KSA).

WSP in the Middle East is currently hiring for a Principal Electrical Engineer (Data Centres) who will lead multidisciplinary design, advisory, and delivery of mission‑critical data centre projects across the region.

The role will oversee client engagement, project strategy, technical excellence, and team leadership, while ensuring all data centre solutions meet global standards for resilience, sustainability, and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, integration, and delivery of electrical and MEP systems for mission‑critical data centre projects.
• Provide technical governance by reviewing and approving engineering deliverables aligned with global standards and client requirements.
• Drive development of modular, cloud, colocation, and hyperscale data centre solutions.
• Act as the primary client interface, building trusted advisory relationships across key accounts in the region
• Lead technical workshops, design reviews, and senior stakeholder presentations.
• Own project strategy, ensuring delivery excellence across lifecycle stages from concept to execution.
• Drive business development including bid leadership, proposal strategy, and commercial positioning.
• Identify and capitalize on opportunities in digital infrastructure, hyperscale, and cloud ecosystems.
• Collaborate with regional leadership to expand the mission‑critical/data centre service offering.
• Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, mechanical, civil, and architecture.
• Oversee resource planning, utilization, and capability development within the data centre practice.
• Ensure all solutions meet benchmarks for resilience, sustainability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
