Qualifications

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Associate Director (Cost Management) to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of end-to-end cost management service delivery on high-profile, complex projects while serving as the key client interface. You will lead strategic cost initiatives, manage large-scale commissions, and drive value creation through analytical expertise and collaborative leadership.   • Lead comprehensive cost management activities across major programs and projects, including feasibility studies, cost planning, and procurement strategy development
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and value management assessments, applying innovative techniques to optimize project outcomes and client value
  • Manage the complete procurement process, overseeing pre-qualification, enquiry analysis, vendor selection, and contract preparation with meticulous attention to detail
  • Serve as the primary client interface, ensuring transparent communication and alignment with project objectives throughout all phases
  • Oversee post-contract cost administration, including variance management, change control processes, cost checking, and valuation activities
  • Prepare and present comprehensive monthly cost reports to clients, demonstrating analytical rigor and clear communication of financial performance
  • Lead value engineering and life cycle costing initiatives to identify cost optimization opportunities
  • Negotiate and finalize project accounts, ensuring accuracy and client satisfaction
  • Mentor and manage cost management teams, providing supportive guidance and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment
  • Identify and pursue new business development opportunities with existing and prospective clients
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on bid development and strategic proposals
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance cost management procedures, templates, and service delivery
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across multiple disciplines, demonstrating assertiveness and transparency in all interactions
Qualifications
  • Proven Cost/Commercial Management experience, ideally from a Consultancy or client side background
  • MRICS qualification preferred with minimum 10 years' Post Qualification Experience (PQE)
  • Extensive experience of working on Major Programmes and Projects
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and motivating teams effectively
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including different procurement routes, value management and value engineering methodologies
  • Demonstrable understanding of construction contracts with the ability to provide contractual advice to clients when required
  • Proven track record of delivering service excellence to multiple clients
  • Ability to drive the commercial agenda for projects and chair commercial meetings
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present clearly and concisely to clients in both formal and informal settings
  • Proven track record of building effective, productive and positively engaged teams
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical capabilities
  • Experience in post-contract administration and cost control
  • Solid understanding of procurement processes and stakeholder management
  • Strategic thinking and business development experience
  • Risk management and change management expertiseExperience in Real Estate sector preferred
  • Familiarity with Middle Eastern market and regional project delivery practices is advantageous
