The Assistant Resident Engineer - Roads is responsible for supporting the Resident Engineer in overseeing the construction and maintenance of roadworks for infrastructure projects. This role involves ensuring that roadworks are executed in accordance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Resident Engineer will assist in site supervision, quality control, progress monitoring, and coordination with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of road construction and rehabilitation projects.
Key Job Duties :
Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising daily road construction activities, ensuring compliance with design drawings, project specifications, and safety standards.
Provide technical guidance to the contractors and site team on road construction methods, materials, and specifications.
Supervise the inspection and testing of road construction materials (e.g., asphalt, aggregates, concrete) to ensure they meet the required specifications and standards.
Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily progress reports, inspection logs, and material approvals for roadworks.
Ensure that all road construction activities adhere to safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
Assist in tracking the progress of roadworks against the approved schedule, identifying potential delays and suggesting corrective actions.
Serve as a liaison between the project team, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and address any concerns related to road construction.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to road construction, such as stormwater management, waste disposal, and noise control.
Assist in reviewing contractor submittals related to roadworks, including method statements, shop drawings, and material approvals.
Assist in the final inspection and commissioning of completed roadworks.
Provide feedback on construction processes and suggest improvements to enhance the quality, efficiency, and safety of roadworks.
