About the job Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil (Water Pipeline, Pumping station)

The Assistant Resident Engineer will be involved in working on projects associated with stormwater & drainage, flood alleviation, wastewater networks and water distribution networks. This will involve undertaking investigations, pipelines valves Rising main construction supervision & monitoring of design and infrastructure work. The role will be based in Dubai.

Key accountabilities
Technical Delivery
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in administering the operational functions of the day‑to‑day activities on the project with respect to construction works.
  • Interacting with contractor, sub‑contractor, and laboratory & monitoring construction work on daily basis.
  • Co‑ordinate with various government departments, contractors, consultants and public to facilitate progress and avoid delays.
  • Coordinate his direct activities with the other engineers and members of the construction supervision team.
  • Maintain logs of project progress, handing‑over and final accounts.
  • Arrange progress meetings for various government/ Interface authorities representative, minute them and distribute the records as required.
  • Chairs the meetings with the government/ Interface agencies and any other meetings delegated by the Resident Engineer.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing of shop drawings, design proposals, method statements and other activities including correspondence related to the project work and prepare replies for the review of the Resident Engineer.Demonstrated ability to prepare instructions, specifications, and reports and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with the contractor engineers on scheduling and application of resources.
  • Direct, assist and monitor the performance of the inspectors and surveyors as applicable.
  • Review and approve Design document and construction plan and procedure.
  • Prepare / Assist in the preparation of Weekly and Monthly progress reports. Demonstrated ability to prepare instructions, specifications, and reports and cost estimates.
  • Keep necessary records and as-built records and take charge of the handing over of the project to the respective service authorities and assist the contractor to obtain necessary final clearance.
  • Identifying non-conforming works, generating reports and corrective actions, and coordinating responses.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Client Service Management
  • Internal and external client DM Infrastructure liaison
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting and positive relationships.
  • Experience in utility diversions and management.

Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.

Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.

Design for safety, i.e., Construction Design Management.

Other duties as requested from time to time by the Resident Engineer.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with Fifteen (15) years of experience in Pipeline Pumping station, Infrastructure Projects.

  • Experience in DM infrastructure projects is an advantage.
