Job Summary
The Assistant Resident Engineer will be associated with AECOM's construction supervision discipline engineers independently or under the direction of the Resident Engineer advising on all engineering matters related to road construction.
Job Duties
- Review Inspectors Daily Reports.
- General oversight of Inspectors daily activities including work assignments, onsite performance, and guidance on the supervision of the Contractors operations.
- Review and comment/approve the Contractors Shop Drawings as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in providing approvals/comments to the Contractors technical submittals (Method Statement, Material shop drawings, etc.) as delegated.
- Coordinate with Contractors supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence, and method of work.
- Review the as-built drawings in coordination with inspectors and surveyors.
- Witness laboratory tests and verify test results.
- Report nonconformances by the Contractor if observed.
- Assist in punch list preparation.
- Coordinate field inspections.
- Be an active member of the project leadership team including interaction with the Client.
- Manage and control delivery of all contract elements and objectives including scope, quality, budgets, schedules, stakeholder interfaces, communication/reporting, environmental, and Health and Safety.
- Clearly convey instructions to staff members to achieve project goals.
- Keep the Resident Engineer informed of all developments that may affect the project.
- Interpret survey and engineering submittals to solve problems expeditiously.
- Identify slippage in the Contractors activities early to take immediate recovery actions.
- Use extensive construction experience to proactively anticipate and prevent problems.
- Portray strong leadership skills that promote mutual respect from AECOM Construction Management staff and the Contractor.
- Ensure high quality of works during construction and compliance with Employers Requirements, Project Specifications, and Safety Requirements.
- Assess the Contractors compliance with the quality management system as specified in the latest applicable standards.
- Review Contractors Design for compliance with Employers and Authority Requirements, End-User Requirements, and Local and International Standards.
- Provide necessary comments/approval to the Contractors technical submittals including calculations, drawings, and materials.
- Submit daily and weekly reports to the Resident Engineer detailing progress, nonconformities, and malpractices.
- Evaluate Contractors personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress of all project participants.
- Participate in project construction meetings.
- Perform claims analysis and maintain a project claims file.
- Assist in the resolution of construction problems.
- Analyze value engineering proposals.
- Prepare nonconformance reports to the contractor if observed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering field (e.g., Civil Engineering).
Experience
- Minimum 12 years of related Construction Supervision/Management experience on projects with a broad general engineering background.
- Must have worked on projects in the capacity of a Senior Engineer and/or Assistant Resident Engineer.
