Overview

Assistant Professor in Digital Media at the University of Kalba, Kalba, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The position is in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. A PhD in Digital Media or a related field is required. Areas of specialization may include, but are not limited to: Digital Media Strategies, Social Media Analytics, Digital Content Production, Digital Marketing, Digital Journalism, Multimedia Technologies, Graphic Design.

The ideal candidate will have a strong research portfolio in digital media methodologies, demonstrated by publications in high-impact journals. The appointee will contribute to the growth of the Digital Media program through teaching, research, curriculum development, and community engagement. Knowledge of software pertinent to the Digital Media field (including Adobe CC, DaVinci Resolve, Ableton Live, MAX, Cinema 4D or other 3D software) is expected.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in digital media using innovative, student-focused teaching methodologies with a focus on contemporary topics.
  • Lead efforts to update and enhance the digital media program, aligning it with current trends and industry needs.
  • Conduct and publish advanced research in digital media, focusing on the candidate’s area of specialization, in top-tier academic journals.
  • Apply and demonstrate proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in research and teaching.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research initiatives and pursue external funding opportunities.
  • Represent the university at national and international academic and professional organizations, conferences, and events related to digital media.
  • Build partnerships with industry professionals to facilitate student internships, research opportunities, and professional development.
  • Mentor and advise students on academic progress, research projects, and career pathways in digital media.
  • Contribute to university governance through committee participation, academic advising, and college activities.
  • Engage in outreach initiatives that support the university’s mission and foster societal impact.
  • Stay informed of developments in the digital media field, integrating cutting-edge research into teaching and curriculum design.
Qualifications
  • A PhD in Digital Media, or a closely related field from an accredited institution, with specialization in one or more areas such as Digital Media Strategies, Graphic Design, Social Media Analytics, Digital Content Production, Digital Journalism, or Multimedia Technologies.
  • A strong publication record in reputable academic journals.
