A leading company in the FM industry seeks an Assistant Manager – VAT and Taxation. This role involves overseeing VAT compliance, managing finance processes, leading a team of accountants, and providing expert guidance to ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and at least 7-10 years of professional experience.
Job Purpose
The Assistant Manager – VAT and Taxation will lead the VAT and taxation function, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key purpose is managing VAT and tax-related processes, providing technical guidance, and maintaining accurate records.
This role requires strong technical knowledge and analytical skills to interpret and apply VAT and tax laws.
The Assistant Manager will work closely with various departments to ensure seamless implementation of VAT and tax processes.
The goal is to minimize tax liabilities, mitigate risks, and ensure regulatory compliance. By providing expert support and guidance, the Assistant Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the organization's financial integrity.
Roles, Responsibilities, Duties
Financial Management:
- Supervise day-to-day and periodic finance-related processes and reconciliations
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end closing (VAT filling and CT calculation)
and reporting
- Supervise day to day operation queries on VAT.
- Monitor and analyze input and output for VAT and Corporate Tax
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead a team of professional accountants and manage the finance team effectively
- Develop and mentor team members to achieve their highest potential
- Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training
- Conduct regular training with receivables and payables team to ensure VAT compliance
Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, accounting standards, and
local laws
- Act as the first point of contact.
- Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance existing processes
- Ensure compliance with FTA policies, procedures, accounting standards, and local laws
- Act as the first point of contact for VAT consultants and group VAT teams.
Business Partnering:
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and act as a Finance Business Partner for other departments
- Communicate effectively and manage successful working relationships with stakeholders
Performance Measurement:
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring VAT and Corporate Tax compliance
- Analyze VAT compliance and variance reports with Senior Management.
VAT and Taxation:
VAT Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of VAT returns.
- Manage VAT payments and refunds.
- Maintain accurate records of VAT transactions.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Manage tax-related processes, including returns and payments.
- Provide technical guidance on tax matters.
Technical Guidance and Support:
- Provide expert advice on VAT and taxation matters to various departments.
- Support business units in understanding and implementing VAT and tax regulations.
- Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate VAT and tax-related risks.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of VAT and tax transactions.
- Ensure records are easily accessible and retrieve
Regulatory Updates:
- Stay informed about changes to VAT and tax laws and regulations.
- Implement changes to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Provide training and support to colleagues on VAT and taxation matters.
- Participate in projects and initiatives to improve VAT and tax processes.
Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience with at least 3 years in a similar capacity, preferably in a business with similar processes.
2-3 years of experience in the FM industry is preferrable.
