Job description

What are you going to do
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Ensure employees are aware of and follow information security rules and data security measures to protect company information and intellectual property.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the pipe department to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Prioritize health and safety in daily activities.
  • Review, approve, and monitor project programs, taking appropriate measures to ensure contractual delivery.
  • Research and develop new work techniques and technologies related to pipe fabrication and welding, including improving documentation process flow for the department.
  • Receive instructions from the Department Manager and execute work-related tasks.
  • Substitute for the Department Manager during their absence, when appointed.
  • Define priorities for the daily work processes of the department.
  • Liaise with other trades, Ship Repair Managers, and Superintendents to ensure smooth workflow on projects.
  • Inspect work sites inside the department (workshop, offices) and on board to ensure resource optimization.
  • Raise Occurrence Reports and approve repair methods for rejected work.
  • Approve Material Requisitions.
  • Stop processes if quality standards are not met.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies, procedures, and controls, and behave in a manner that does not adversely affect the environment, health, safety, or well-being of others.
  • Fulfill responsibilities outlined in the Company OHSMS.
  • Participate in training and safety initiatives implemented by the company.
  • Comply with all safety directives and work instructions.
  • Immediately report incidents or potential hazards to supervisors or safety departments.
  • Stop work if there is a risk of harm to oneself or others.
  • Ensure all work is properly planned, communicated, and executed safely.
  • Advise workers on potential health and safety hazards and controls.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work areas to identify and eliminate hazards.
  • Report incidents, hazards, unsafe equipment, or other safety concerns promptly.
  • Stop any unsafe acts and promote a positive safety culture among the workforce.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices, considering international best practices, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement.
  • Prepare departmental reports accurately and on time to meet company standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Essential skills and knowledge
  • Graduation in Engineering Discipline.
  • Strong management skills in piping construction, familiar with international codes and standards.
  • Proven leadership qualities and understanding of electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
  • Excellent construction planning and monitoring skills.
  • At least 10 years of significant experience in shipyard, refinery, oil & gas offshore projects related to piping construction.
  • Motivated leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing a multinational workforce in dynamic environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good technical knowledge and report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
  • Respects workforce and fosters excellent relationships with stakeholders, encouraging teamwork to achieve targets.
