Job summary

Grant Thornton UAE seeks an Assistant Manager for the Direct Tax Service Line to lead a team on corporate tax matters and cross-border issues. You will guide juniors, review complex returns, and support risk and advisory projects with clients across the UAE.

The role emphasizes technical tax expertise, client advisory skills, and collaboration with Partners, with opportunities for growth and regional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of UAE corporate tax experience required.
• International M&A tax experience is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
• Professionally qualified (CTA, CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong written and spoken English; Arabic is advantageous.
• Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills for team development.
• Technical aptitude with advisory experience on complex tax issues.
• Willingness to work extra hours and travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Leading and motivating team members to support high-quality performance.
• Understand complex tax concepts and apply them to client matters.
• Participate in bids and proposals for prospective clients.
• Consult with Partners and management on technical and risk-related matters.
• Contribute to presentations and seminars for business forums.
• Review complex tax returns with international elements and provide recommendations.
• Research and analyze international and domestic tax issues.
• Respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Coordinate with stakeholders on business developments, compliance and legislation.
• Oversee corporation tax deliverables within projects and coordinate with other tax teams.
• Manage tax due diligence for buy-side and sell-side transactions.
• Demonstrate understanding of OECD BEPS Pillars 1 and 2.
• Prepare schedules based on detailed documentation analysis.
